Apartment Sublet
An apartment sublet is an arrangement where an additional lease is arranged underneath the original apartment lease. In this arrangement, otherwise known as a sublease, the original lessee in a lease agrees to rent out the property to a third party, either in whole or in part. The new agreement, called the sublease agreement, will also govern temporary use and consist of payment. In effect, the original lessee is both renting and receiving rent at the same time. An apartment sublet can be differentiated from other types of subleases because this arrangement takes place in an apartment. From a legal perspective, the original lessee becomes a sublessor and a third party is made into a sublessee. For a lessee to begin subletting their apartment, the first step is to make sure that doing so complies with the original lease and then to create a new agreement for the sublease. When the apartment sublet begins, the original lease remains intact and the lessee is fully liable.
