Notice To Enter

A notice to enter is a written form prepared by the landlord/landlady and/of his or her lawyer. It indicates the desire of the property owner to enter the premises. The reason behind the notice to enter varies. The property owner may wish to enter to repair something within the premises. He or she may be investigating a leak or a problem relating to another apartment. In some instances, the landlord is arranging with the tenant to make repairs requested by the tenant. He or she may also be performing a walk-through inspection prior to the moving of the current tenant. In several states, the landlord/landlady must provide the notice to enter within a set period prior to the visit. This may range from "reasonable time" to 12 hours to 24 hours to 2 days. Consult with a lawyer and read the legislation applicable in your state and community for specifics.
