Sublet Housing

Sublet housing is often sought out by those looking for a short term rental situation. When a leaseholder must leave their home for an extended amount of time, they may decide to sublet the home to avoid the penalties involved in terminating a lease early. The original tenant rents out their home to another person in their absence, and a sublet agreement is usually signed outlining the terms of the sublet. Sublet housing is common among college students, who often sublet their rented homes or apartments over summer break. Sublet housing can also be used by those temporarily working in another location, or as a temporary residence by someone who has recently relocated to another city. A landlord must usually be asked to give consent before a sublease agreement can be signed, and in most cases the landlord is allowed to ask for more information before agreeing to or denying a sublease.
