Enforcement of Parma's Fair Housing Ordinance:
The City of Parma's Fair Housing Ordinance prohibits housing discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or handicap. If you feel your fair housing rights have been violated, you have the right to file a fair housing complaint with the City's Fair Housing Administrator, in writing, within one year of the alleged violation. Once your complaint is filed, it will be promptly investigated to determine if there are reasonable grounds to believe a violation of the Fair Housing Ordinance has occurred. If the complaint is not ultimately resolved through conciliation, and if there are reasonable grounds to believe a violation has taken place, the complaint will be referred to the City's Fair Housing Review Board for an adjudicative hearing.
Landlord-Tenant Assistance Program:
In July, 2001, the Law Department implemented a Landlord-Tenant Assistance Program as a service to Parma residents. The program is designed to provide information about and answers to frequently asked questions regarding landlord and tenant rights and obligations.
